The SAFE Act

The SAFE Act (Save America’s Forgotten Equines Act) is a proposed U.S. law that would ban horse slaughter and prevent horses from being exported for slaughter.

On March 26th, 2026, I stood outside the United States Capitol surrounded by people who all shared one belief: horses deserve better.

Signs were raised, voices were heard, and for a moment it felt like we were part of something bigger than ourselves. For me, this wasn't just about policy, it was personal. Horses have shaped much of who I am and being at this rally reminded me why I started Winning for Horses in the first place. Thinking back to the lesson ponies that gave my 6 year old self wings when they owed me nothing, it is now my time to fight for them. Every ride, every show, every win, it all connects back to this responsibility to give back to the animals that give us everything.

Standing there today reinforced something I've always believed: change doesn't happen passively. It happens when people show up, speak out, and refuse to look away.

The SAFE Act represents a future where horses, wild and domestic, are protected from slaughter and exploitation. Being part of that movement reminded me that advocacy isn't just an idea, its an action. And today, I chose to be part of that action and I will continue to fight for the lives of these beautiful animals.

Horses aren’t raised for food. They’re companions, athletes, healers, friends. They deserve protection—not slaughter. Take action today: LostHorses.org
